warsztaty

Podczas swojego wolontariatu Aile prowadziła w Łokietku wiele różnych warsztatów. Poniżej przedstawiamy opisy najważniejszych z nich:

Reflectors
My first workshop for this project was held in November. I taught how to make an accessory worn during the dark in my home country. Reflectors for traffic were invented in Finland in the mid 20th century and nowadays they are very commonly worn to stay more visible for cars. For this workshop we sewed reflective material onto a background fabric with a loop to hang it to clothes. It was my first time conducting any sort of workshop and there were more people than I expected. It was quite new and a tiny bit intimidating at first but I ended up learning quite a lot about holding a workshop. One week later I held another workshop for this theme and applied everything I learned from the previous one.

Gingerbread
Every country has their own twists on this spiced Christmas treat and Finland is not different. As a part of Łokietek’s Christmas event I conducted a cooking class on how to make the Finnish variation. Some ingredients were hard to find and had to be substituted but in the end the recipe worked just like the one I know from home. The recipe was a success with the participants as well, no printed recipe cards were left remaining at the club.

Kumihimo
I remember being taught to make this style of friendship bracelet when I was a kid. I think the concept of friendship bracelets is quite beautiful and I was quite excited for this workshop. We used a Japanese cord braiding technique that uses a disc with small cuts in it. The threads are crossed over many times to create a simple stripe pattern. Once again I applied everything I learned conducting previous workshops and I feel like it went incredibly. The results of the workshop were really beautiful too.
